Has anyone had bariatric surgery?

I am waiting for a date for my op (bypass) and I have a couple of questions.

Can anyone recommend an online bariatric surgery support group. I’ve looked at a couple on Facebook and they all seem to be American. They seem to do things slightly differently over there so I’d prefer an British group.

Secondly, it’s a big operation and lifestyle change and I’m worried about various things but the I think the thing I’m going to struggle with most is feeding my family.

I do most of the cooking. Like most people (I think) I struggle with what to make for dinner most days. I try to keep meals quite healthy and nutritious and varied. I do quite a bit of cooking from scratch.

It’s going to be even harder for me post op (for a few months anyway) because I won’t be able to eat what everyone else is eating but I’d still like to keep things healthy for them.

My DDs are 11 and 14 so there is no way I can ask them to cook every night and my DH works. I suspect if I leave them to their own devices it will be frozen pizza or takeaway every night!

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any pearls of wisdom for me?

Hiya. I'm actually having my op in the morning. So can't offer much experience but there is a website called wlsinfo which I have found invaluable. They also have a face book group. That's a good place to start (UK). It's a scary but exciting time! Xx
