Xylitol - does anyone use this to prevent ear infections?

I have been on a web site that has recommended a xylitol nasal spray for washing the nose, with the view that it stops the bacteria that cause ear infections. (Xylitol is known as the sugar that prevents tooth decay)

Both my dds suffer from bad ear infections, and I wondered if anyone had used xylitol - and what the results were ?

JaneyT, RobinW has posted loads of info before about xylitol and how it works for ear infections - if you do a search, you should find the info

My DD has had loads if ear infections. SHe has had grommest since she was 18 months and was still getting infections until I put her on the Boots kiddies toothpaste ( with the crocodile on it ). I don' want to tempt fate and say that the improvement is solely due to the toothpaste - but perhaps there is no hamr for you giving it a go for your DDs

Thx - I've read the other threads - and have bought the paste - dd loves the taste !

I've also contacted the 'kidsteeth' website and am ordering some xylitol sweets - thanks again for the help.
