Flu, medicine, diarrhoea

I'll start this thread saying I'm not a poo troll, just a germaphobe!
Me and my ds (5) have been suffering from proper flu for a week. He started last Saturday and me last Sunday.
It's been awful, he's been off school all week and me off work. My dh has taken some time off too to help look after us both.
Ds seems to be picking up, just a nasty cough and tired now.
I'm feeling a little better but for the past couple of days have had a few episodes of diarrhoea. I'm an emetophobe (terrified of vomit) and anything that is associated, so diarrhoea.
I'm scared that I have picked up stomach bug as well as the flu, but I'm not sure if it is just the flu doing it, or all the paracetamol, ibuprofen, cough medicine and throat lozenges I have taken. Although I stopped having these regularly a couple of days ago.
Has anyone experienced bad bowels with flu? Is this normal or does it sound like I could have picked up another bug?

Throat lozenges containing menthol by any chance? Because menthol is rather good at, how shall we say, loosening things up... Oh, and swallowing all that snot can also encourage looser stools.

Yes, and I think the cough medicine too.

Swallowing mucus can give you looser than normal stools, does the cough medicine have glycerine in it?

Some cough medicines and liquid cold remedies contain sorbitol as a sweetener, it has laxative effect.

Ok thanks, I also suffer with IBS so wonder if the flu has messed with my system??!

If you have H1N1 then that’s Swine fly, so diarrhoea is a symptom.
