The contraceptive coil

I had the copper coil previously but found my periods were heavy so I had it changed to the hormonal coil

I have now had this in for over 3 months and have noticed the following, I have recently been quite down and feeling depressed. I have also felt like I've put on weight. Last month I had a suspected ovarian cyst and was in a lot of pain with it

I'm now thinking there all linked and maybe something todo with the coil

Has anyone else had similar issues with it?

The hormonal coil contains progesterone which some women are very sensitive too. I have had the Mirena coil and the mini pill (progesterone only), both of which played havoc with my mood. I also put on lots of weight with the Mirena coil. This is not at all uncommon, although frequently doctors seem to deny that the Mirena has any side effects, and it can be difficult to get them to remove it!

When you ad it taken out how long did it take for things to settle back down?

I can't really remember I'm afraid, I still haven't shifted all the weight though. Certainly after I stopped the mini pill, the change back to normal moods was almost immediate.
