Blood test - high progesterone?

Hello,

I had a blood test about a week ago and rang the doctors today to ask about results. All of my results were normal or normal enough apart from the progesterone which I think they said was a bit high.

The day I had my test was day 21 in my cycle and I always get sore breasts about two weeks before my period which I know is caused by progesterone. I am just wondering if anyone has had this before?

My husband and I are kind of in the process of trying to get pregnant but in the very early stages of that.

Anyone got anything that might be helpful?

They have said that I will have a phone appointment early next month so can't be too urgent!

I'm just curious if any other women have had this?

I'm 24 next month with regular cycles 😊

Thanks

Hi,
Sorry, I can’t help, but just curious how you got sent for hormone tests? I have been told many times that they won’t do hormone blood tests unless you have been trying to conceive for 12 months but you mention you are in your early days of trying? Apologies if I’m being too nosy!
Again, sorry I can’t help but hope someone can!
X

If your day 21 bloods were done correctly, and you've ovulated around day 14, then your progesterone levels should be high. The high progesterone level shows you have ovulated. However I don't know if they meant your progesterone level was higher than the high expected at that point on your cycle, if that makes sense?

Just had my progesterone taken and it was 40 on day 21, they just said anything over 30 meant I've ovulated. How high was yours?

Regarding the level of hormones, it is best to consult a doctor, because I do not have a special medical education to give you advice. I can only advise you an article on progesterone: hghtherapydoctor.us/progesterone/what-is-progesterone-and-what-does-it-do/

Hi nighttoast,

Sorry it has taken me some time to reply.

I went for a full blood count test which wasn't directly because I told my doctor that I wanted to get pregnant but did say that I was concerned about fertility (she wasn't worried but I seem to get anxious about these things!) she ordered the test around other things that I went for and that's what came up.

I should be having the phone call this week so will hopefully find out more. Thanks for all your replies 😊

Incase anyone was interested, my doctor finally called and said that everything was normal and the high progesterone shows that I definitely ovulated and she's not worried. The reason I had these tests was because of pinching pain throughout my cycle in abdomen area. She doesn't seem worried so that's that!

I think the doctor receptionist made it sound like it being high was a problem but obviously she wasn't a doctor.

:)
