Hi as we all know it's freezing 🥶 right now and this time last year me n dp got struck down by flu full blown couldn't move my body for a week! I suffer health anxiety and I'm trying my best to prevent from getting struck down again this year! I know it's very difficult as it's spread so easily! I'm asthmatic and don't have the best immune system 😩 so have had flu jab for years but didn't make one bit of difference as think are diff ones about! I was told by someone who is a health freak that taking ginseng tablets everyday really helped ward off colds flu etc! I try to eat as healthy as poss and take multivitamins daily! I get so worked up tho about catching it, it takes over my thoughts some days! I'm on AD to help with my anxiety but really would love to see if anyone has any advice on herbal remedies or supplements that could help against catching it ! As it was so bad last year I couldn't look after my child for a week ! 😞 thanks wishing u all good health 🙏🏻

Get the flu jab again. The one this year is supposed to be a better match for the flu strains that are circulating than last years.

There are no supplements that can prevent a viral infection.

I had it in November last year so doesn't that mean I can't get another ? Thank you for your reply x

No, you're supposed to get a new jab every year. The flu strains mutate and so the mix in the vaccine is adjusted annually. Make sure the children get theirs as well.

You're most welcome. Smile

I think nikkidoll means she had a flu vaccination in November 2018, so if she had another one now it would be the same vaccine.

I'm very dubious about supplements' having any benefit for people who eat a healthy diet anyway. As MissConductUS said, supplements aren't going to stop you being infected with a flu virus. However, how effectively your immune system gets rid of it and how quickly your respiratory epithelium repairs itself will be influenced by your general level of health and nutrition. Bear in mind it's actually your immune reaction to the virus, rather than the virus itself, that makes you feel ill, so if you do catch it I'm afraid there's no way of avoiding feeling very rough for a few days, at least.

I take vitamin D in the winter, COD liver oil and magnesium. I eat liver once a week for iron and B12. Vitamin c. Lots of veg. Exercise but don’t overdo it. I wash my hands after being on public transport. Try not to touch my face. Lots of onions and garlic! Daily probiotic. No sugar. Nada. None. If I get a sore throat or sneeze I try to rest more.

Seems to work!

I don’t get the flu jab. I don’t believe it work and I suspect the additives in it aren’t great for you. Everyone I know most sick with the flu seems get the vaccination, it didn’t work last year and there is some evidence you are more likely to contract flu the next again year if you are vaccinated
