Sinus or infection?

Just before Christmas I started with a chesty cough, wheezing etc so was put on antibiotics and steroids due to asthmas in the past that is well controlled and I have not used an inhaler for about a year. The chesty cough did not go away so I was prescribed more antibiotics and steroids. It subsided for a few days then returned again so another trip to the doctors ended in stronger antibiotics. Halfway in to them and last week resulted in a full blown asthma attack, blue light ambulance and a short stay in hospital. I had a chest X-ray which the consultant said is clear and bloods ok. I am on more steroids and they end tomorrow but I still feel as though something is lingering in my head, I have a lump when I swallow and my nose is constantly blocked with gunk. Is this more sinus and that is why the antibiotics are not working? I'm so fed up of not being able to sleep because of pain in my head and swallowing constantly to get rid of the junk.

Is there anything I can buy over the counter or ask my doctor tomorrow to prescribe me as I have a follow up appointment in the morning.
