Kidney stones?

Been having problems since yesterday.

Back pain, feeling hot then cold, very tender stomach, struggling to wee.
It's suddenly gotten worse today; I'm in agony, cannot wee at all, the back pain is persistent and a lot worse than it was yesterday.
I've used hot water bottles, had a hot bath and taking my prescribed painkillers (given for chronic pain - totally unrelated) but have had no let up.
My painkillers are strong - oxycodone 5mg, co-codamol 30/500mg and Naproxen 500mg but I'm still in agony.

I've felt very nauseous today; although I haven't been sick yet (apart from when the pain first hit earlier.)
My bladder feels full (?) but I cannot wee - it's very uncomfortable.
Pressing on the sides of my stomach sends me through the roof in pain.
Googling had told me that it could be kidney stones, do I book an appointment with my GP? Or is that a waste of time?
If it is kidney stones do they just pass on their own?

The only time I've felt pain like this before was when my appendix burst and I needed it taken out.
Any advice (and treatment tips) would be much appreciated!

That should say pressing on my stomach - not pressing on the sides.

Honestly if you’re in that much pain go to A&E. These sort of symptoms should be taken seriously, and you shouldn’t let dr google diagnose you.

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 17/01/2019 18:49

If you have a stone stuck you could end up with sepsis don't muck about get to a&e

brokenhead · 17/01/2019 18:49

A&E for scan and pIn relief if you can't wee might need catheter

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 17/01/2019 18:50

I had this last week and the pain was horrendous started just under my left rib and tracked right down to my lower left couldn't even walk

thebigmaniswatching · 17/01/2019 19:08

With that amount of pain dr google isn’t the answer, you need a&e or at the very least a call to 111

debka · 17/01/2019 19:09

A&E now if you are not passing urine.

goose1964 · 17/01/2019 21:24

Go to A&E a stuck kidney stone can cause kidney failure and if you're passing one you'll need industrial strength pain meds like morphine

I've had a kidney stone pass a few weeks ago it was worse than being in labour. There's no way I could post on Mumsnet whilst it was happening ! Best to be checked by a Dr though as something is going on

Thank you for your replies.

I visited my GP this morning and have been diagnosed with a Kidney Infection.
Been put on antibiotics and Diclofenac to try and ease the discomfort; with strict instructions to go to A&E if I start throwing up or shivering.

It may not seem like it, but that's a result. Kidney stones would be the same, but for much much longer! Hope the antibiotics get you sorted quickly.

Don't allow yourself to second-guess the orders to go to A&E if you get shivery, your brain will be messed up and doubtful (I did the same with stones). They're orders, not suggestions!
