Chest infection without cough?

Anyone experienced this as I can't find much about it online?

I went to GP with severe head ache and neck pain, and fever and that's what he's diagnosed.

Never in my life heard of a chest infection without a cough, even a mild one surely is necessary for diagnosis? Just keep a check that you can touch ur chin to your chest without severe pain as that's a symptom that would need checking out again. I hope you're feeling somewhat better since this morning xx

Yes I had a viral
Cough that eventually went away. A week later I had a strange wheeze and felt woozy; it was an infection. Early stage pneumonia/ walking pneumonia

I must say I didn't have pains or even a temp though. Just rather drowsy.

FittyCent · 18/01/2019 04:39

I haven't even had a cough recently.

So 24 hours ago I was feeling much better with temp feeling much more under control.

Fast forward to 12 hours ago and the headache started creeping back. I took paracetamol and ibuprofen but temp either didn't go down or went higher. Highest so far is 38.7 and the headache has been horrendous to the point I had to phone OOH as it's kept me awake and I was so cold. All they said was to give it longer and the pain killers should kick in. I've managed a couple hours sleep since then and I still feel feverish but the headache has subsided somewhat but I feel will be back worse than ever once these pain killers start wearing off.

I've just taken the chance to come down and get something to eat while I can.

Any ideas? I feel like I'm going mad and slightly concerned antibiotics aren't working.

Thanks for your messages by the way. For some reason I didn't see an email that I'd had a response x

I've had quite literally scores of chest infections. I only had a cough with the very first one.

theresaspiderinthesink · 18/01/2019 08:33

Did he listen to your chest? It's quite clear to a Gp when there's an infection that needs antibiotics.

FittyCent · 18/01/2019 08:49

Yes he listened to my chest and said almost immediately it was a chest infection.

Bit miffed about the head and neck pain and why it seemed to get better then worse. Going back at 11:30 so will see what they say

A chest infection can cause restricted breathing. A cough will not necessarily be present. Hope you feel better soon.
