Getting to see your usual GP

Do you get to see your usual GP? Do you get pot-luck when you make an appointment? Does it matter to you or is it more important just to get to see any GP?

I am a research in University of Birmingham and I would be interested in your views on this topic. Better still if you could attend a focus group - refreshments provided :-)

It's pot luck at my place. Last time the doctor they sent me to was a fruit loop and I went away with some articles about how my smart watch is giving me cancer he printed off the Internet while I was there.
I went in to talk about contraception.
I'd prefer to see my regular GP but usually I don't want to wait that long and have to take who I can get.

If I want to see “my” GP I either have to make a pre-bookable appointment which is usually at least an 8-week wait, or phone up for an on the day appointment and hope he has one available still when I finally get through!

For minor things I’m not too bothered who I see, but for anything important I try to see my GP as I know he’s good and trust him.
