What's wrong with me?

On Thurs night I started developing a funny smell in my nose, thought maybe I'd be getting a sinus infection. Yesterday (frid) I was tired and felt a bit phlemy-y, smell in nose continued, I struggled through work, then around 3pm my back started hurting. Today I have had to come home from work early, my head hurts, my back is killing, I feel tired and sweaty. Its too slow developing for proper flu isn't it? What the heck is it? I have severe health anxiety so this is also causing anxiety symptoms but I know enough to tell the difference.

Anybody? Is this just the start of something awful to come or is this gonna be shortlived?

Sounds like you have a cold. Many people have similar currently.

Nogodsnomasters · 12/01/2019 20:31

Bombardier - I've never had such a back ache with a cold and I don't have a sore throat or stuffy nose, no sneezing or cough. I do have some excess phlegm in the back of my throat though since yesterday.

Yes a winter virus/cold often affects the limbs or back

NoonAim · 12/01/2019 20:39

We've had cold/fluey type symptoms but with one-sided backache and a weird, stabbing headache.

Probably a viral thing.

Nogodsnomasters · 13/01/2019 09:53

Thanks everyone. Did it last long pp? My back is absolutely killing me today and I'm really not a "sore back" type person if that makes sense. I still have the smell in my nose and some phlegm in my throat but no cough, no sniffles.

With most normal cold viruses they last about a week. Don't over worry! Everybody gets them in winter

Thanks everyone, I definitely over think symptoms that I'm not used to it with standard viruses. I'm feeling a bit better but have headache, earache and tiredness still.

Well I now have a sore chest, stinging eyes and the shivers so looks like I've got something too Sad

Nogodsnomasters · 16/01/2019 19:10

Aww I'm sorry to hear that. I still don't feel "right" this is like day 6 but nothing major has materialised yet. I have a scratchy throat now and mild tickly cough. My anxiety is sky high so cheers to that!

I have terrible health anxiety too.
I’ve had what you describe & it lasted ages & ended up in my one & only migraine. I’ve had it with out the back ache but with phlegm, tingly head, weird smell (burnt toast) & pressure in face & head & that turned out to be sinusitis.
I’ve got the smell & head pain at the moment & I suspect my sinuses again.
Get well soon.

inmyownlittlecorner I'm sorry you also suffer with health anxiety, it can be so debilitating when it spirals. I find it so exhausting to constantly try and keep it in check, sometimes it just wins and I can do nothing. I hope you feel better soon too xx
