Men must trust their ears less than their eyes - Herodotus
There’s a reason eyes are called as windows to the soul because they rarely lie. Our eyes can easily tell others what we’re thinking. Similarly, they tell us a lot about what goes on with them, only if we listen closely. Let’s take a look at a few signs and symptoms, that our eyes show us when something is wrong with them.

Signs: Blurred vision, partial vision loss, difficulty in seeing in dim light, change in perception of colors (rarely)
What it could mean: All of the above signs could indicate Macular Degeneration, although in earlier stages of the disease the patient might be totally asymptomatic. The gradual deterioration of the central portion of the retina is termed as Macular degeneration. One of the leading causes of vision loss, MD usually affects people who are above 45.

Signs: Clouded vision, difficulty seeing at night, halos around lights, frequent change in the prescription glasses, and faded colors.

What it could mean: These are typical symptoms of Cataract. The clouding of the lens in the eye which gradually leads to decreased vision is termed as cataract. This clouding occurs when proteins in the eye start forming clumps and prevent it from sending clear images to the retina. Just like MD, Cataract is also an age-related disease.

Signs: Tunnel vision, loss in peripheral vision, halos around lights, pain in eyes, blurred vision, redness etc.
What it could mean: Tunnel vision & pain in the eyes usually means one thing; Glaucoma. It is a progressive disease during which damage to the optic nerve leads to irreversible vision loss. Glaucoma is divided into two categories: Open Angle & Angle Closure Glaucoma. If left untreated it can cause permanent blindness in a matter of a few years.
