would def get a second opinion, better be safe than sorry. I had a visit to 4 different docs at my surgery to get something checked out and only then was my mind at rest. My sister had one removed for the same reasons you give. Good luck

thanks, lily. may ask to have it removed, to be on safe side.

i would get a second opinion. I had an itchy mole in my hairline which would bleed if i scratched it. My GP said it was nothing, but if it bothered me to come back. I did and got a referral to hospital....turns out it was a rodent ulcer, a type of (non-malignant) skin cancer.

I had two removed recently - turned out to be non-malignant. If they're bothering you (for other than comestic reasons)and you're insured, the proceedure is paid for. Three weeks on, there's hardly a scar.

I would get a second opinion. Don't assume the worst, as I had one like it last summer, and after many sleepness nights it turned out to be an infected spot directly under the mole. It took 2 appointments with different doctors to establish this. The first doctor had me booked in for removal and I was in a right state. Then it dried out and came off, so I wrapped it in cling film, went for a second opinion and all was well. I was pooping my pants at the time though, I was so worried.

I went to the dr with a mole (quite small, not itchy, but very dark) Dr said she thought it was fine and said she wouldn't remove it while I was pregnant. After I'd had dd2 I asked her to remove it as I still didn't feel happy about it. When I got the results back, it had been malignant. It was a horrible, horrible shock, but had been caught in time, so hadn't spread. I'm now checked by my dermatologist every 3 months. I hope that me telling you all this doesn't scare you. I just want to show that if yours WAS malignant (and I'm sure it won't be), then the sooner you get it checked out, the better. You're obviously still concerned about it. Chances are, it'll be absolutely fine, but you have everything to gain by getting it checked out asap. I understand exactly how you must be feeling. I've had 2 moles removed since then, and both were benign. It's just better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.
