Delayed food poisoning or bug?

I immediately assumed I had a bug, but DF is convinced we've had some sort of delayed food poisoning... is this even possible?
The background is:
We went for a family meal around 10 days ago. DF and I sat at opposite ends of the table and were nowhere near each other all evening. We both ordered lamb shanks. Everyone else had something different.
4 days later, we both had severe cramps and diarrhoea along with nightsweats, we also both felt a bit delusional. I assumed I'd had a bug. However DF is convinced otherwise and we are both still suffering loose stools and night sweats 1 week later.
The odd thing is, nobody else in our family has had the bug; just us and why would we both have had it when we were sitting so far away from each other?
It does seem strange but surely food poisoning wouldn't take so long to surface?

Have you not seen your DF at all since the lamb shank evening?

You can feel ill from toxins in food left by microbes that don't specifically infect people (like if mould got in the food), but usually what people call Food poisoning is a bug = contagious germ.

Sounds like longer than usual incubation period followed by longer than usual duration of illness. Totally possible for some germs.

Longer than usual incubation period could be due to an especially low dose, however you were exposed to it (not necessarily the lamb). Longer than usual duration of illness could reflect your shared genetics & similar response to a type of germ.

Hope you feel better soon.

How was the lamb shank cooked, btw? Was it well done?
Were there any salad greens at the table for anyone?

I have not seen DF at all since that evening. The lamb was slightly pink and it was served with mashed potato and some greens... a mix of cabbage, leeks and peas I think.
