Abnormal bleeding/spotting since 17th December

Hi there, I wondered if someone could advise as I am away from home until January 17th. I am visiting my mum at present. Sorry if this is TMI but really hoping a nurse or doctor here can give advice. I am 47 and usually on a 27 day cycle. I missed a period in November but started spotting (rust coloured and about a 1/2 tsp to 1tsp per day), this went on for about a week and the the blood became red although still the same amount. I started bleeding a little more on the 6th of this month which is when my period was due but very light compared to normal until tonight when I had a surge that went through a normal regular absorbency tampon and a pad. I also have a little pain now. I have had heavy and rather painful periods ever since I started menstruating at age 12 and nearly always have to use super plus tampons. I am really worried about the length of time I have been bleeding down there especially as I had a LLETZ procedure for CIN 2 about 6 years ago. I am going to ohone my GPO tomorrow to make an appointment for the day when I get back but is there anything that I need to specifically be aware of treatment wise to investigate this? Does it sound like perimenopause or something else? Sorry, trying not to worry but am feeling anxious about it now. Thanks for anyone who can offer advice or similar experience x

Perimenopause. Things start going haywire.

I had a 'surge' in the bleeding yesterday and passed a largish piece of endometrial tissue but am going to call my GP today to make an appointment.

The bleeding isn't consistent in amount in that sometimes I am getting surges of red blood. I hope it is just perimenopause :(

Thanks Aquamarine1029, been bleeding non-stop for a month now and getting really worried and still got another week until I can see the doctor. I had a LLETZ procedure about 6 years ago and although my smears have been normal since, I am still just worried it might be something sinister :(
