Dental packing

Had 2 back teeth out on Friday. Face swelled a bit, had a bad taste and smell in my mouth so went back today. Dentist cleaned out the sockets(possibly the start of ‘dry socket’) and packed it with some brown tobacco-looking stuff that tastes like cloves.
About an hour later, I started to feel weird. A bit shaky and floaty. Like I’m extremely hungry. Im pretty convinced this is a reaction to the stuff he put in.
Anyone else experienced this?
Side note, I can also feel a sharp bit in the socket now too, that wasn’t there this morning! Nothing was mentioned about it at the appointment though

Bump but no use.

I remember the clove stuff, like tobacco.

Thanks. Yes it’s the weirdest stuff!

I had a lower back tooth extracted in 2017 and kept getting tiny spiky bits of bone poking out, although it was a bit later on in the healing process. My dentist took some out with (what looked like) tweezers after I went back in a panic, but she said it was very common, particularly after a tricky extraction. After that I worried them with my tongue then used my own tweezers (I did sterilise them) once they got close to the surface. It took a good few weeks until they were all gone, but my tooth had huge roots and had to be sectioned into bits to get it out.

Thanks Judy. As far as I could tell, they all come out in one piece. Wasn’t any mention of any loose bits. God it’s all so grim!!

Have a look at this, which explains it pretty well. I think it's more that the bone holding the tooth gets bashed about a bit when the dentist takes the tooth out. Also worth bearing in mind that anything in your mouth feels MASSIVE. I was convinced I had huge spikes sticking out, when in actual fact they were much smaller than the nib of a pen.

Yes, it is grim. I was so upset after having mine out. It healed up really quickly though!

Thanks for the link. Very interesting. It’s quite painful today. Don’t know whether to go back and see them? Can feel 2 spiky bits now Sad

I'd give it a few days? People say it's just having a tooth out, but it's essentially jaw surgery - in your case twice over.

I phoned up, no appointments. Hoping it’ll be better tomorrow. The smell is gross
