My daughter is 22 and on medication for anxiety ... Sertraline and propananol.
She is constantly tired everyday ... she can sleep all night when coming home from work and through the night also .
She has had bloods done and been told all is fine . I wondered if anyone has taken any vitamins or a tonic that would help.
She is ill quite often also and never ever feels well .
Any advice would be appreciated.

Has she ever experienced trauma? The physical impact of trauma is real. Tell her to read some Gabor Mate or look him up on YouTube. The guy is a genius.

I suffered depression due to anxiety and found that depression made me constantly feel tired.

So I would suggest she looks into good sleeping patterns, fresh air and regular walks if she doesn't already do this

No she's not experienced trauma ... she does do exercise twice a week with myself we have a PT been doing this for the past 8 weeks ... she just never has any energy at all and everything is such hard work ... I really worry about her as surely this can't be normal .

Has she had a thyroid test? What was the result?

littlecloudling · 06/01/2019 20:16

Is she very slim? Have you asked for a coeliac test?

Neurotrash · 06/01/2019 20:22

Propranolol can make you tired, my dad didn't get on with it. It also reduces the conversion of thyroid hormones (t4) to t3 which can also mean you're a tad more tired especially if your tsh is a little up. It's used for hyperthyroidism for this reason and I had to take a little extra thyroxine when I was on it.

I also believe that sertaline might have some sort of interaction with thyroid - it's listed on the side effects I think though many people are fine with it.

How long has she been on the sert? It made me very tired for the first few weeks.

Ask for a full print out of her bloods. Sometimes things like iron and thyroid are "ok" but could be improved (iron) or something to watch (thyroid.) vitamin d is the other one to think about.

ProlificLurker · 06/01/2019 23:40

Make sure they checked her b12 levels and also ferritin (iron stores)

Anxiety is exhausted. Tiredness is one of the most common symptoms. It's really normal. Please try to let her go at her own pace, and don't push her into things that you think will make her feel 'better', how ever well intentioned.

I would get her vitamin D levels checked x I felt exactly like this in my 20’s and finally a doctor tested my vit D. A healthy person I think is supposed to be between 50-80 or something and I was at 9! They put me on high dose vitD tabs and I was a new person. Before I suffered panic attacks, exhaustion, lack of motivation, aching limbs etc it was awful. All down to one little tablet x
