Penicillin V - dosage

Just wondering if you can take too much of this, as I've been told to take 2g three times a day for a week, and that's loads more then the suggested doses given online.
It's for ear inflammation.

I just got a strip of tablets to last until I can get my prescription on Monday, each has 1g, printed on it, I was told to take 2 tablets 3 times a day.

What does it say on your prescription, who told you how much to take.

What does it say on the box, I thought pen v came in 250mg tablets, where does it say 1g per tablet.

Mudmonster · 05/01/2019 20:08

Penicillin only comes as 250mg tablets

I can only find penicillin V in 250mg tablets. Are you sure about the drug name and dose?

You’ve been told to take 2g TDS for a week and have 1g tablets, but only have enough to last until Monday when you’ll pick up a prescription? Are you in the UK?

isthistoonosy · 07/01/2019 21:27

No not in the UK, got enough to last until today and then a prescription to pick up today, to last for the rest of the week.

It's pen v, 1g per tablet (printed on the tablets packet, the box, and the prescription), 6 tablets a day. Doesn't seem to be doing anything yet, so that maybe explains the dosage.
