Can you have a stomach bug without vomiting?

4 out of 7 of us in my house have had a vomiting bug, generally I'm quite good at not getting these bigs but for the party 24 hours or so I've been getting really bad stomach cramps, high up in my stomach rather than bowel.
It's definitely not psychological as the pains are horrible, but as yet I've not been sick. Is it possible do you think to catch the same big everyone else has had without actually being sick?

It might pass through.

It is either or though. You might still get the squits and you should ride them out without bungy up meds. Lots of clear fluids for you.

I can deal with them. Really do t want to be sick though I hate it. Although if it just hurried up is rather it than feeling like crap for days x

If you have no d&v it's unlikely to be a bug. I get stomach pains when i eat things that don't agree with me

I’m phobic of vomiting and sometimes when I’ve caught a vomiting bug from the kids I have been rocked by awful nausea but avoided vomiting by lying still, clamping my mouth shut, breathing through my nose only and not moving for hours. I reckon it would be easier just to vomit but I don’t let myself.

All my family had a stomach bug around this time last year. I was the last to feel ill,but was never sick. I had stomach cramps and nausea, but no actual vomiting. I assume I picked up the bug, but not as badly, or my system just dealt with it differently.

namedrama I think you may be onto something there. I'm not phobic, but I'm not far off, and I wonder if I would just be sick if I relaxed about it

I've had this before, where someone in the house has had a bug and been vomiting, but I've just had bad stomach cramps and nausea. I guess it depends a bit on your immune system, general health, lifestyle etc.

We've had a few tummy bugs in our house. My husband and son always have D&V and I just get the D. (Plus the sweats, cramps and feeling crappy). Can't remember the last time I threw up. Must be over 20 years ago!

I have often had stomach bugs where it has only come out the other end. A bug doesn't always mean vomiting.

How are you doing, OP? X

NotAGoodParent · 06/01/2019 19:47

Hi I'm ok thanks! Felt very crampy and sick that day and barely ate, then yesterday felt a bit crampy still and today more or less back to normal (unfortunately my appetite is back too 😂) x
