What horrible news for you and your father. .

I know nothing about this type of cancer but these links may be helpful. The BACUP one has plenty of info about the cancer itself and the MacMillan one gives you an idea of what kind of support your Dad and the family may be able to get.

All the very best.

Thank you for these sites I will certainly look into them. The news somehow seems worse today now that we have all slept on it. I think the scary thing is that they are going to have to do a ct scan as the type of cancer he has is common to spread to the lungs. Fingers crossed for him.

Do you know what type of soft tissue sarcoma it was? I had one type (dfsp) four years ago and am totally fine - in fact so fine I've have had two babies since.

I had a CT scan too...I think that is pretty much par for the course just to check it hasn't spread. The main treatment (for my type at least) is surgery to remove it followed by radiotherapy if necessary.

there are two hospitals with specialist sarcoma units - Royal Marsden and Christie's in Manchester. They both have info on the web if you google them. Also look at the Sarcoma UK site

Very happy to discuss more if you would like but not sure how helpful it will be if it's a different type.

Good luck to your dad xx

A friend of mine had one of these in his thigh muscle as a teenager. Thirty years on, and he's been absolutely fine ever since his treatment ended. Best wishes to your dad for an equally good recovery.

Hi we were just told that it was a soft tissue sarcoma. It is on his thigh muscle. They want to operate and give him radiotherapy or whatever it is called. They also want to check it hasnt spread to somewhere else or came from somewhere else. He hasnt had symptoms anywhere else though and I would have thought he would have had. They are hoping to get him in within 2 weeks and get it dealt with.
