Has anybody had glandular fever and can shed some light on it? Before I go to the doctors with what I think is glandular fever 🤒

I felt 'off' for about a month, swollen glands, fatigue, no appetite and then collapsed. Was then in bed for a couple of weeks and then on the sofa for another six months.

Glandular fever left me with a thyroid problem that was not diagnosed for forty years and hS basically blighted my life. Having now got the thyroid problem fixed I am feeling better in my Sixties thSn I have since I was seventeen.

Take it seriously. Get it checked.

I had it 13 years ago, I don't remember much of a build up but the pain was agony, it felt like swallowing razor blades, my neck was swollen looking from the size of my glands and I had no energy and couldn't eat, could barely drink. It lasted a good 1-2 weeks and then I was wiped out tired for about a month afterwards.

Yes, I’m just recovering. Was knackered for a week or two, then the first unusual symptom was my upper eye area (not my eyelids, the bit between them and my eyebrow) swelling. Sore sinuses, aching joints so apart from the eye thing, I just thought it was a cold type thing. Then, hugely swollen glands the size of golf balls on my neck, tiny pea sized swollen glands elsewhere on my neck and on the back of my head, the absolute worst sore throat I’ve ever had (like swallowing glass) and a stabbing pain in one ear. Had that for about 5 days, then got over that but for the last 4 weeks I’ve just been knackered. I reckon I’ve been out of sorts for 6 weeks now. Feel fine, just tired.

I saw my GP initially for the swelling eyes, she got me back in a week later and did a blood test which confirmed it.
