Does anyone else have 'silent' reflux?

If so, what are your symptoms, please?

I do get occasional bouts of actual heartburn and stomach pains but more often than not I have silent reflux which seems less understood and acknowledged by doctors.

My symptoms:
A sensation of something at the back of my throat. Not a lump per se but something that I instinctively want to swallow down.

Breathlessness (I am asthmatic too but this breathlessness seems to be felt from the top of my stomach). I get this in the middle of the night hence asking now.

I have tried omeprazole, lansoprazole, esomeprazole and just last weekend following a bad flare up with "true" reflux, I was prescribed ranitidine. This has helped with the pain but I'm waking at night instead.

I'm not overweight, don't smoke or drink, I've cut caffeine too. I had an endoscopy about seven years ago - genuinely hated it, it terrified me.

I'd love to know what helps others because I don't feel like doctors treat it as "true" reflux.

You'd want checking out for various conditions that can cause this (including dysphagia), as there is often an underlying cause. Would recommend a short trial of buscopan/mebeverine too.
