Infected Sebatious Cyst

HELP. I have been dealing with a scalp sebatious cyst.
I am on my third round of antibiotics over 4 weeks.
I have never experience so much sharp pain before.
It is like an ice pick or bee sting all around the cyst.
Has anybody had this and what worked.

Hi, l have had an infected sebaceous cyst on my scalp and antibiotics did help but it was a seven day course and a specific antibiotic if l remember correctly.( Can't remember which one unfortunately) I had it removed when the infection had gone but it came back so had it removed again.Hopefully this time it's gone for good! I hope you find some antibiotics that help you, they are a real nuisance, especially on the scalp.

Did you have extreme pain. Nothing is helping for my pain that comes sporadically lasting up to an hour. I am taking Tylenol 500 and a prescription for anti inflammatory

No, not extreme, it felt hot and sore and tender to the touch but responded to the antibiotics after a few days. l think l would go back to the Dr if l were you.

I have one on m bra line at the front under my right breast that flares up from time to time. The last time it got infected I had to have it lanced (I think that’s what it’s called) as it didn’t respond to antibiotics and actually got worse. It was incredibly painful and actually made me cry with pain, I’ve not known anything like it ever. Go back to GP if you feel it’s not improving with antibiotics x

I have an infected sebatious cyst complicated with the MRSA and I think Occipital Neuralgia, nerves run along the scalp and I think mine are injured and inflamed. (this last part is my diagnosis.) the pain is like a sharp jabbing electric shock at the cyst site. from inside out.
This happens sporadically. When the pain is happening I have to curl up in a ball and scream.
When it isn't happening I can go about my day.
This morning it went on for about an hour and a half.
Yesterday too

Yep-this happened to someone I know. The antibiotics had done nothing. Went to A and E under advice of NHS Direct and they removed it under a local anaesthetic then and there on a ward within an hour.

OP, go back to your G.P. this sounds awful and not a typical reaction.Hope you get it sorted.

UPDATE....... I had to go to the Emergency Room and he has taken it out. We had been travelling in the Amazon, Peru, Ecuador and Galapagos for 39 days. I didn't think it had anything to do with that. The doctor confirmed it wasn't '' tropical '' But after the incision was cut, it was a tropical bug..... Absolutely DISGUSTING !!! Sorry for sharing this but I hope I am now on the road to recovery..

staying on antibiotic for 2 more days.
I may have to go to a therapist to deal with having this in me for almost 2 months. But I am just glad its done.
Thankyou for your support
