PCOS skin

I have mild PCOS

The acne I have on my chin and jawline is awful...nothing I do has an effect. I can eat well, exercise blah blah blah but still get these big painful lumpy spots.

It’s really getting me down as they’ll clear one side then start on the other. The acne is also spreading down my neck...

I feel like admitting defeat but before I do just thought I’d ask if anyone has any success combatting it?

Katie

Yes, me too!

I also have thyroid issues, so was referred to an endocrinologist that did a whole host of blood tests and found some issues.
Hoping once I've dealt with that, the acne might improve (and the hair loss, dry skin and other issues!!)

In the meantime I've been prescribed Metformin for the PCOS. Its mainly used for diabetes but CAN be used for PCOS in some circumstances.

There was an acne thread on here the other day too.

Following for ideas as my right jaw is a mess at the moment, like you say, next week will probably be the other side...

I have mild PCOS and had really painful lumpy spots prior to having children. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic topical cream that really helped clear them up.

Ok so it’s getting WORSE!!! I literally don’t know how to control it.

I’ve just made an enquiry to a skin clinic to see if they can help me. It wouldn’t bother me if it was the odd one but I’m dealing with 7 large painful lumpy spots at a time...

I don’t know why it’s got so bad all of a sudden x

Sorry OP, I don’t really have any advice but just to say I sympathise - my skin is terrible at the moment and always large lumps on my chin, under the skin. I’m being investigated for Adenomyosis and endometriosis and I’m sure it’s hormonal for me as its always at it’s worse when I’m ovulating. Hoping to find a solution too.

Have you tried supplements: spiruline and inositol would be a good place to start. I have bad PCOS skin and in 20 years haven’t found any external treatments stop the spots (although quinoderm clears them up quite quickly!).

I suffer awfully with this, big sore spots on my jaw and neck, also pimples and white heads on my chest and back. The only thing that clears it up for me is dianette. It works wonders and I have perfect skin whilst I am on it, I always come off it again as it has increased risk of blood clots but within weeks my skin flares up again.

I have PCOS. I had two courses of Roaccutane in my twenties. It really cleared the horrible cystic spots I had on my jaw, chin, chest and back. I’m 42 now and they started popping up again a couple of years ago. I now use Differin Gel. It’s really great.
