Feeling breathless and light headed- what’s wrong with me?

I’ve been feeling breathless and ligh headed for nearly 2 weeks now.

It’s pretty constant unless I’m sitting down.

When I walk I can’t take a deep breathe and feel light headed.

It doesn’t feel like low iron (which I do suffer from occasionally) as I’m not getting heart palpitations.

If I miss a meal, or eat a bit later, it’s so much worse.

I’m a healthy weight, 34yrs old and generally fit and well.

I’ve even to see my GP and she took my blood pressure and listened to my chest. All well. She’s sent me for a chest x ray and bloods which I’m having tomorrow.

I normally have low-ish blood pressure- 107/70-

I feel like I can’t do anything! Everything makes me breathless and dizzy!

What could it be?

It sounds to me like stress or anxiety symptoms. Once you recognise a symptom you can tend to dwell on it and it becomes a bigger problem than it really is. I'd get it checked out but I'm sure it is nothing serious. Merry Christmas.Xmas Smile

I had similar symptoms from under active thyroid. Get those bloods checked for that too maybe.

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 20/12/2018 21:38

I came on to say get your iron checked after reading the title - still stand by that, even if it doesn't feel like your normal symptoms of low iron.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/12/2018 23:20

Have you had an ECG? Could be a-fib or a-flutter. Not always detectible with a stethoscope and it can come and go. DH had a-fib and had to run to the ER for an ECG when he felt that lightheadedness & breathlessness so they could 'catch it'.

I have low BP, too, and have something called Orthostatic Hypotension. Usually happens when I stand up, but occasionally I'll just feel 'faint-y' and 'jelly legs' for no reason. If I stop and sit, it goes away.

Thanks everyone!

I’m awaiting bloods and chest x Ray. Ive also started taking a multi vit and extra iron.

I feel a bit better today after a week of taking them and will get results next week.

Hopefully that’s all it is - low iron/ b vits as I’m quite a poor eater generally.

My iron dropped to below 70 and I had no symptoms. Had symptoms after the first transfusion lol.
I'm currently at 97 and am a bit breathless.
However, physically I look really ill

BiscuitDrama · 22/12/2018 14:51

You aren’t pregnant? I was pretty dizzy in early pregnancy.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 26/12/2018 20:04

No definitely not pregnant Biscuit although I did suspect for a bit!

Hey. Did you get any results? How are you feeling now? Thanks

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 02/01/2019 20:09

Hey LazyDoll bloods and chest clear.

I’ve started eating regularly now and have been taking organic supplements and slowly over this last week it’s been easing off.

I sometimes would miss breakfast, miss lunch and eat crap for dinner so I’m guessing my body had had enough. Seems pretty obvious now to me but when you’ve been doing songs one way forever and it suddenly stops working for you it’s not always immediately obvious.

Thank you for asking 🙂
