coldsore nightmare

Can anyone help me get rid of the monster coldsore that is currently taking over my face?
It came up Thursday morning and then on Sunday morning got bigger and has gotten bigger again this morning.
Its absolutely grotesque, I want to hide under my duvet and stay there. I was given some fusidic acid by a GP in case it might be impetigo and I have zovirax as well.
Why is getting bigger?? Can I have a magic cure pretty please?

I was patiently watching this thread for responses as I've came up with two today for the first time in ages. Can't leave you hanging!

I have an almost two year old too which makes difficult too. I use compeed patches and I put tcp on them every night to attempt to dry them out.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon 🤞

MaisyPops · 17/12/2018 19:53

I swear by the compeed clear patches. They are best when you get them on as soon as the tingle starts but can be used later.

Otherwise lots of rest and fluids and wait it out. They're horrible things to have. Flowers

Another vote for the compeed patches

aurorie11 · 17/12/2018 19:57

Compeed patches, but when I was going through a really bad spell, I had something similar to this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Virulite-Electronic-Cold-Sore-Treatment-Device-CE-FDA-NHS-Approved/192114263060?epid=1505300131&hash=item2cbae70414:g:l-8AAOSwL5BZzQaZ
Not cheap but worked

Nail varnish remover. Honestly

MaMisled · 17/12/2018 20:14

Me too! Two whole new people growing ever bigger on my chin! In the past ive slathered with Sudocrem when im alone but leave to dry out for many hours a day too. This definitely speeds up healing for me. (Xmas party friday......going to need a sparkly balaclava ).

Thanks for the responses. I actually bought some compeed patches this afternoon and plan to put one on tonight. All I want is for it to stop spreading. I get cold sores several times a year but this is nothing like I’ve ever had before, it’s huge!

Lysine cream from Holland & Barratt or Amazon is a miracle for cold sores

Le1890 · 18/12/2018 02:13

I have always suffered cold sores. I got what I thought was a huge one in the summer but like that it kept getting bigger. The fucidic acid cream did nothing and it spread toninside my nose. I went back to gp who diagnosed impetigo and I was given an oral antibiotic to clear it.

Hope you get some relief soon

ExCharlieBucket · 18/12/2018 08:31

iodine! stops them in their tracks, i swear.

Gagglegeese · 18/12/2018 22:50

Lypsyl cold sore gel.... Works wonders.

However I have never had a cold sore but I've been suffering with angular cheilitis , it gave the symptoms of a cold sore but it wasn't , the lypsyl helped because of the anesthetic In it.

Thrush cream and daktarin for rid of mine

BigGirlPants18 · 18/12/2018 23:10

Echoing ilovekale with the Lysine from Holland & Barrett. I used to be plagued with chronic cold soles, and their Lysine tablets helped massively.

On the rare occasion I now get cold sores, I go for a combination of perfume and toothpaste.
Spray some perfume on your finger and dab on to the cold sore - beware, it may be quite stingy for a few minutes! Then I smother it in toothpaste and leave it as long as possible.

I feel for you, OP. I once had a huge bunch of cold sores that just spread all over my lip and chin :(
