I’m going through the menopause and am not satisfied with the care I’ve had to date. Was looking for other opinions please, as I may be over reacting (history of anxiety).
I was seen at the hospital back in Feb after a year or so of erratic periods, i.e. every 3 weeks, then none for months, then periods resumed. Always heavy.
Blood tests taken. Was advised that my breasts are leaking as I work with children (have always worked with children and definitely am not wanting any more).
Went back 12 weeks later for results, FSH 38 and LH 34. Prolactin normal. Advised to have a Mirena fitted and prescribed Tibilone. Advised not to start Tibilone until coil in situ.
Mirena fitted July, commenced Tibilone, felt much better. Increased concentration, memory, better skin, libido returned.
Saw GP for repeat prescription couple of months later, refused as tibilone not appropriate whilst still having periods. prescribed Evorel 50. Feel utterly rubbish again. Mood has dipped and severely depressed with high anxiety.
Reviewed back at hospital (different clinic) in Nov. Bloods taken for thyroid and ovarian adrenal antibodies, to inform decision making to change patches or switch to a gel. They confirmed Tibilone is used in post menopausal women.
Hospital subsequently rang to say had lost blood tests. These haven’t turned up. I have been prescribed Estradiol gel via a prescription in the post. Advised to have blood tests in a few weeks to check it’s working.
Does this all sound ok? I am concerned I was left from Feb to July with no HRT, then prescribed the wrong one, then having been changed to patches it’s now been changed to gel, without the benefit of any blood tests, due to the hospital losing them.
Any advice?
Thanks for reading.
