We are in Surrey but dh is doing a trial up in London. Has your dh had difficulty getting on a trial, twig? This was the 3rd one that dh was offered, but the other 2 were Phase 2 human trials, which he was a little nervous about, where as the one he is on currently is a phase 4 (so already a licensed drug).

Right, we are in Greater Manchester, wonder whats going on at the MRI? will get him to ask. Glad it seems to be working for your DH

Twiglett · 25/06/2007 12:23

gawd biologics been used very succesfully for years in the states .. I wouldn't have any nervousness over it ... I know of juveniles taking it (an 8 year old)

DH's rheumy said to try the traditional ones first and luckily, for us, the methotrexate seems to be working well atm

ComeOVeneer · 25/06/2007 12:50

The two trials were for new unlicenced drugs twig. It was shortly after the whole thing at Northwick Park hospital, and dh is a bit of a worrier anyway.

ComeOVeneer · 25/06/2007 12:52

The methotrexate did work for dh but it was the liver issues that concerned his specialist so he was taken of them. His liverenzymes went up soo quickly they were going to send him for a liver biopsy to rule out any other problems.

well thankfully DH's bloods still normal after 3 years

mankyscotslass · 25/06/2007 14:36

Dh's blood ok after a year of it, but still not improving the symptoms...

Twiglett · 25/06/2007 14:46

have you tried a gluten free diet manky?

Twiglett · 25/06/2007 14:46

Debbie .. I'm sorry we seem to have hijacked your thread .. shall we move elsewhere?

mankyscotslass · 25/06/2007 15:43

I think that might be an idea, sorry Debbie

hi

i was on cyclosporin a few years back for about 6 months and had a great response.

i get palmoplantar pustular psoriasis on hands and feet.

i didn't have any side effects like you've described but my bloods came back high and i wasn't informed.

i ended up with an agonising build up of uric acid in my finger joints - kidneys weren't functioning 100%. at it's crudest i had gout in my fingers!

because they didn't inform me of the bloods they ended up taking me off cyclo overnight and i had a massive rebound.

a course of oral steroids took about 10 days to get it back under control.

i have found that dairy and in particular chocolate (eek!) have a direct affect on my hands/feet and skin in general.

so i try to keep dairy to a minimum and occasionally i go dairy free for a month or two to really give myself a break.

i also use a fabulous body and face moisturiser that you can get here: www.serftosurf.com/bodystuff.htm

i use bodysex and face phirst and it really helps.

there's also a great UK psoriasis site with loads of support and information: psoriasis-help.org.uk/The_UK_Psoriasis_Help_Forum.html
