Hi, I’m hoping for some advice since being so poorly for 5-6ish months I think I’ve discovered health anxiety. I’ve been diagnosed with a PE and I am taking blood thinners. (Down to long bedrest)
Now I have this bruise bottom of my leg that I don’t remember banging at all and it’s quite painful. DVT or medication?

It could be either, maybe best to check it with a doctor. Have you had a dvt before.

I am taking blood thinners already for a PE and they say it comes from DVT? Surely not another one as I am already on thinners?

Do you have any other signs or symptoms of dvt? Its very likely to be medication but it is impossible to diagnose anything over the internet and would suggest that if you are concerned at all seek professional advice.

I don't think DVTs usually present as bruises. More likely redness, swelling etc.. You're very unlikely to develop one whilst on the blood thinners. Do you have an anticoagulant nurse you can contact for reassurance?

(I'm on blood thinners too for PE.)

I’m more likely thinking it’s medication that’s causing it I just don’t recall banging my leg x

It really doesn't take much impact at all with the blood thinners. I've bruised myself just holding onto my leg tightly stretching - I had fingerprint marks! Blush
