Hi all
My ds 15 months had his last set of jabs today, including mmr. He was in agony whilst having them, nurse cut his leg a bit and squirted me with a bit of the vaccine. She just said oh well, think I've got most of it in. Baby was hysterical at this point, just wanted to get him out of there and comfort him. Since he's had them he can't walk or stand at all on his right leg, which was one she cut. Just laying on me and if I move he's crying in pain. The more I'm sat here thinking, how is she thinks she got most of it in acceptable? What if he hasn't had the right amount, I don't know which injection it was. Really worried about this and the fact he's not moving around or putting weight on his legs. He's had calpol and is now sleeping, I can't switch off for worrying though. Will be taking him back to the doctors first thing in the morning. Has anyone else had anything similar?

Not had similar but losing a small amount of the dose won't stop the vaccine from working

However she sounds thoroughly uncompetent

She should have written in your red book which vaccine and lot no etc

I would complain...

In my gp surgery one nurse writes in your red book, the other does the injections. She didn't mention anything to the nurse who updated the red book. All that's in it is a tick by parental consent and the date. I will complain when I take him back tomorrow. Thanks Smile

They need to put the batch number so that if there were any problems with the batch they would be able to trace who to vaccinate again or which batch to recall.

Really serious if they aren't recording it

Hope he feels better soon!

Just checked they've not put a batch number on any of his records. I'll bring it up when I see the doctor tomorrow. Thanks again

They may be recording it elsewhere in the surgery but I wouldn't be happy with that at all. They may be able to print out from the computer though considering they've recorded none... I would definitely hope so or that's quite worrying to me.

Really lovely nurse who was very thorough on her record keeping when we did them.
