tiredemma · 23/06/2007 18:44

over 99 in a child is a fever.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 18:49

I've given him colpol but unless you touched him you'd never know he was feverish.

he's eating a bowl of dry cereal ATM and watching flash gordon.

not sure how well he did the under the tongue thing either so I doubt that was an acurate reading.

mouth isnt really recommended for children under 5. Best to do it rectally if you can (not with same thermometer though obv)

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 18:55

good god...theres noway he'd let me put it up his bum!

OP posts:
tiredemma · 23/06/2007 18:58

If he doesnt feel feverish then he should be ok. As long as he doesnt go over 104.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 18:58

38.8 under his arm

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 18:59

he deos feel hot but isn't ill in any other way IYSWIM

OP posts:
tiredemma · 23/06/2007 19:04

not very accurate under arm- generally come up about 0.5 degrees lower than oral- which seems the case here.

Temperature is the bodies way of fighting an infection- so you may find that he may come down with something over the next few days.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 19:09

would would 104 be in centigrade?

OP posts:
tiredemma · 23/06/2007 19:12

god no- if he had 104 centigrade he'd be hotter than the sun ( almost)

38.8 centigrade is 102 farenheight

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 19:15

durrr..I meant 104 translated back down to centigrade.

He was just saying his tongue is sore and I've looking in his mouth, his tonsils look abit swollen so I suspect its the start of tonsillitus.
No spots on them yet but they are big.

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 19:16

durr was at me BTW not you

OP posts:
tiredemma · 23/06/2007 19:17

most probably will end up that then, most temps come up just before an illness.

oh dear- tonsilitus, not very appealing.

hope he is ok.

tiredemma · 23/06/2007 19:18

I know!- I did look and think

but the I realised you wouldnt possibly be that rude!!!

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2007 19:19

it wasn't until I saw it posted that I realsied it looked like I was calling you thick!

that makes me even thicker!

OP posts:
tiredemma · 23/06/2007 19:21
