Ear infection hearing loss

My DD woke up screaming from a raging ear infection in both ears last Monday night and we took her to an out of hours appointment who gave her a spray and told us to give calpol as necessary.

She was poorly for a couple of days but seems fine now, no more pain, what I can see of her ears looks fine, except she’s still struggling to hear and it’s really upsetting her.

I’m going to try and get a GP appointment but they’re rare as hen’s teeth round here.

I’ve no experience of ear infections - is the hearing loss normal? I thought it would have gone with the infection but it seems not.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did her ear drum burst? Telltale sign is oozing pus out of ears. If so hearing will be affected until they heal. Otherwise could be glue ear

Thanks Spa. No I don’t think her eardrum burst, haven’t seen any pus from her ears. One was a bit waxy but she’s a waxy earred kid at the best of times Smile
