Is it okay to take Paramol every month?

I bought some Paramol (the one with paracetamol and dihydrocodeine) over the counter today. It was a different pharmacist to usual and she asked a bit more in depth questions compared to usual (which is totally fine, she's just doing her job) like what type of pain I was treating, had I had it before, how much did I usually take etc.

I told her it was for period pain (I have the copper coil so periods are horrific) and that I usually took it every month for maybe 3 or 4 days.

She gave me a bit of a funny look and said it's only meant for short term use and I should see my doctor. She did sell me it but I always assumed it would be fine as I only ever take it around my period and never for longer than 5 days.

Should I go to the Dr?

What does the leaflet say?

Glad to read actually that you were questioned so, that person was doing her job.

Why were you given the copper coil?. Was that for painful periods as well?.

Ongoing, horrific and severe painful periods are not normal and I would urge you to go back to the GP and insist that you are referred to a gynaecologist. The cause needs to be determined as well as trying to treat the symptoms. Endometriosis is a common cause of severe period pains.
