How long to stay off school after diarrhoea?

Ds has had 3 very runny poos today, taken quite by surprise in that he had to rush to the loo. Actually felt okay in himself though.
If he has no more overnight, would you send him to school? He's 4.5, in school attached nursery.
Ta!

The rule at our school is 24 hours after it stops.

mummytosteven · 21/06/2007 21:54

No, I would leave it a day, so it was a full 24 hours. Unless he'ld had a curry the night before or something that would obviously have caused it iyswim.

MrsSpoon · 21/06/2007 21:57

I understand it to be 24 hours too and you have the added benefit in being able to spell 'diarrhoea' when you write the note. My DS1 has just been off with this and I made so many attempts at the spelling that in the end I just wrote "tummy bug"!

SlightlyMadSugar · 21/06/2007 22:00

I would give him 24hrs.

There is now a notice at my swimming ppool saying a child cannot have their swimming lessons until they have been clear 14 days which I think was very excessive.

MrsSpoon · 21/06/2007 22:05

I think the 14 day thing is particular to swimming pool use.

Posey · 21/06/2007 22:09

Thank you, just the response I was wanting! Don't think they'd be too pleased if he passed it all around.

Lol at MrsSpoon! Learning diarrhoea (and a load of other unspellables) was homework once when I was a student nurse
