episiotomy help

Hi all, my stitches from childbirth (a week ago) are very painful and some of the area has a white pussy substance. The pain is bareable with painkillers but the pus is concerning me. Is this normal? I'm currently between gp's so can't call today for an appointment but I'm really worried I've got an infection or the stitch has come undone!

Thanks!

Try to get to the GP ASAP or get your MW to check. In the mean time, Bath with tea tree and/or lavender to help healing. Try to let air get to it. Good luck x

Definitely need to be seen. I thought my episiotomy wound was infected and gp sent me to hospital to get it checked out.
Do you have a minor injuries or walk in centre near you?
Very good advice from other poster. When you're not airing it drizzle a pad with cold water and a few drops of tea tree oil for some relief.
It's dreadful, I didn't right for such a long time.

Mine got worse before they got better if that makes sense but I would definitely try and see your midwife , just give the on call midwife a phone and hopefully they will be able to check it out for you
