went to dentist as tooth cracked. had temporary filling put in. Two days later in agony, real, nasty cant sit down in agony. horrible tooth ache with no sleep.
went back to dentist, given antibiotics, didnt work. pain getting worse.

finally back to dentist , pulp removed, and root canal. told didnt need more antibiotics as infected area removed.
That was thursday, this morning at work sort of started hurting a little, now this evening back to high pain level.
plan to ring emergency dentist tomorrow, but oh, hell, this has been 3 weeks of pain so far.
Are they going to give more more antibiotics and remove the tooth?
anyone know?

First of all, what painkillers are you on?

Get some cocodamol tonight if you're not already taking it and take an NSAID too.

Sometimes root canal fillings can take a little while to settle down. My dentist warned me to expect a fair bit of pain for a few days afterwards but now it’s totally fine.

What painkillers are you on?

Flowers dental pain is horrible.

hi am on soladeine which does help.
went to emergency dentist, had the temp filling removed, tooth washed out and antibiotics added (again) and then another temp filling on top.

told to expect pain for next couple of days, but should be better by then.

that was this afternoon, so am hoping i will be able to sleep tonight without such huge amount of pain.

in terms of pain, this is 2nd worse i have ever had.
1st was when a loop of my bowel fell out of place and had to be put back in. That was high morphine pain level.
labour with the four kids was the 3rd level pain. even the one with forceps.
i think dental / tooth pain is near horrific.

I had 6 weeks of pain...passes between dentist, GP, and hospital...then saw a consultant who admitted me for emergency surgery to have the infection cleaned out (this was after 5 weeks of trying different antibiotics and having the abscess drained twice to let the infection out). The Op cleaned out the infection and I had a further 2 week course of antibiotics, whilst my stitches healed. 8 weeks later I'm not in pain but still waiting for my Op date to have my wisdom tooth removed....so how longs a piece of string?!
