Migraine?

I have occasionally in the past had bad one sided headaches with nausea. My husband gets migraines and has aura and light sensitivity - because I don't get these I've always assumed mine aren't migraines.
Yesterday I had such a severe headache that it incapacitated me. All on one side of head behind my eye and made me extremely nauseous - I was feeling like I needed to vomit but not much coming up (sorry if tmi - didn't feel like a sick bug). I tried various pain killers (ibuprofen, paracetamol, OTC co-codamol) but nothing worked - for reference I very rarely take pain killers so don't think it is drug related headache. Today, after finally managing to sleep, I feel fine.
I will try and get a gp appointment but wondered if this sounded like a migraine to others that get them? If so is there anything I can take for it without prescription? (in case I get one again before I get to gp).

Yes, sounds like migraine.

Youve taken all you can OTC, so trip to GP and they can prescribe sumatriptan for if it happens again.

Thanks jollyGiraffe. Will attempt to obtain gp appointment.

To purchase Imigran/Sumitriptan over the counter I think you have to first have it prescribed. All subsequent purchases can be done on presentation of a signed card that is provided by the pharmacy. Although this procedure may have changed.
