GERD diagnosed-any advice?

Hello everyone. Just been to docs today and he gave me Lansiprazole capsules for GERD. This is a bit of a shock to me as I've only just realised I have had silent reflux with the v worrying symptoms of food stuck in throat/difficulty swallowing a mouthful down in one go and breathing problems for at least 2 years maybe 4or5. I never get heartburn and I just put the other symptoms down to bad colds (kids and bugs eh!) and anxiety. So it's gone unnoticed. I also have put up with post nasal drip for about 6 year without doing anything to stop all the mucus running down my oesophagus (lovely!). I'm now feeling pretty low and ropey.

The doc said he didn't think I needed any further investigation but I am concerned I've done some damage. Has anyone else had these same weird silent symptoms? How do you manage them? Do you think I should push for an endoscopy?

Sounds like Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), there's lots of info online.
I'm surprised you haven't been referred for endoscopy.

Really? Oh no I'm panicking now... why?

Don't panic! Anxiety can cause swallowing problems, the more we worry about swallowing the harder it gets.
GP may be waiting to see if Lanziprazole helps.
Long term reflux/GERD/LPR can cause oesophageal damage and endoscopy is done to rule this out.
