Is GP necessary for possible tonsillitis?

Dd17 had a cold and sore throat just over two weeks ago. Her glands in her neck were really swollen with this.
The symptoms eased but glands didn't go down completely and she has now had a really sore throat for the past two days. Her glands are massive again all around one side - behind her ear, under her jaw and and the back of her neck. They're really sore whenever she moves her head and swallows.
Her tonsils look swollen but I can't see any white spots.
I can't decide if she needs to see GP tomorrow or not.

I don't think I would bother usually but when she was 3 she spent a week in hospital as one of the glands in her neck got infected after having tonsillitis and she needed IV antibiotics.
There's no visible sign of an infection again at the moment (last time the redness was moving up her face quickly) but I don't know if I would be over cautious to get her to see GP just because of her history.
She eating and drinking fine and doesn't have a temperature.

85% of tonsillitis is viral. We use the centor criteria which are temperature, lymph nodes, pus on tonsils and absence of cough. Even with all four of those only about 60% is bacterial. This isn't individual advice but staying at home seems reasonable for now.

Thank you.
I think we'll give it another couple of days to see if it gets better on its own.

Don’t let it get any worse! My brother’s gp refused antibiotics once. His tonsillitis worsened to the point he could barely swallow. He ended up in a&e then went into hospital for 2 days for IV fluids and antibiotics.

Will keep a close eye on it. If it gets worse I'll get her to see GP

I nearly died once as my throat became obstructed and swelled fast with tonsillitis

Admittedly I was young, living alone and didn't have someone checking on me

Personally it's made me cautious
