swollen eyes in DS (5) for last 3 weeks - DR says conjuncivitus - is it Hayfever?

started on a sunday - swollen lower lid
took him Dr who said it was infected stye
that was 2 weeks ago
last week the other eye went the same way so more penicillin & eye drops

today whe picked him up from After-school-club he was rubbing his eyes - its been hot & humid today so could it be hayfever?

sounds like it could be, if eyes are itchy is there any discharge from the eyes?

mistressmiggins · 19/06/2007 21:02

to begin with no discharge but then from constant rubbing he ends up with discharge so DR think conjuntivus

we're off on holiday week tomorrow & am worried it will flare up while away

he has not had hayfever b4 but with family history it is possible

dread Wed 2pm cos for last 3 weeks Ive had school phone me cos his eye has closed!

HAy fever can cause eye to swell and have yelow stringy discharge.
Could try some anti histamine to see if it helps?

mistressmiggins · 19/06/2007 21:07

should I just give it to him if still itching tom?

has finished the penicillin & was told to put drops in eyes til tomorrow

just feel so helpless & just dont like to see him in pain plus cant afford to get called out of work again tomorrow - that will be every Wed for last 3 weeks work are only so tolerant

Might be worth a try. If it was an infection surely the penicillin would have cleared it by now.
Stop by the chemist tomorrow and ask for advice.
