Plantar fibroma

hi, i've got a painful lump in the arch of my foot, fancy name is plantar fibroma. I had surgery on both feet for bunions (osteotomy) and don't fancy anymore foot-faffiness. I like running and rollerblading so any tips to relieve the pain? I'm not an AOP so zimmer frame is not an option ;-))

I’ve just been to Gp with lump on bottom of my foot on Monday. Snap, plantar fibroma. He’s referred me to hospital for inevitability an operation to remove. My consultation appt with hospital isn’t until dec 20th thou. Some days I struggle to walk and it’s really aching. Have you been gp?

DoingMyBest2010 · 15/11/2018 13:04

Hi @WeLoveHaribo
No, I haven't been to GP yet, I don't struggle to walk, so it's not hindering me that much, but I'm aware it's there and bl@@dy annoying, God, I really don't want another foot operation, but hey, we'll see. Good luck with your appt, let me know on here how it went. How are you fixing it in the meantime, with insoles etc?

@DoingMyBest2010
I didn’t know what is was until saw gp and wasn’t expecting him to say needed operation. I was naive in thinking I’d get a quick appt and all be sorted out. The week I’ve had it 3 out of 7 days I struggled walking test of time it’s like having a stone in my shoe!!!
Only last night whilst I was on internet I bought some plantar foot braces and arch supports... not sure what they’ll do but I’ll give them a go. I’m going to nip chemist today too see if they have some kind of dressing/support.
Do you use anything?

Oh I'm going to have a google! I wear thick socks, and sometimes I shove an in-sole (one of those really soft ones) under my arch, but it's a pain in the backside! I've had foot surgery in the past and it's no joke and really want to avoid it, but I guess genetics are not working in my favour as I have uterine fibroids, which fall in the same family as fibromas! Ugh. Anyway, of to visit Dr Google!

Whenever I’ve googled I don’t think my is a ‘bad’ case.. it’s relatively small!
Never tried thick socks 😂 Will now though !

I’ve got a cancellation @DoingMyBest2010 this Wednesday. See what hospital say.
Tried thick socks no help. Went to chemist got some thick chriopody felt, cut hole where lump is and walk round with that in shoe,it helps a lot ill get back to you after weds.

DoingMyBest2010 · 19/11/2018 13:23

good luck! that's not a bad idea, I'll give it a try. I was walking a lot yesterday and I have to say....it did start to hurt after a while :-(. Time to make that appt me thinks :-)
