Asthmatic cough - feel generally awful

I've posted before to see if anyone else has chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and co-existing asthma (Yes it's a thing). I'm really suffering this autumn with constant attacks of sneezing and a nose like a tap. Have had awful asthmatic cough for over a week and usual for me I feel wobbly and faint after not doing much. Didn't have energy to get undressed last night. Also slightly nauseous and aching (prob from coughing). Do I go to GP?

You could go, but just as a heads up, there's a nasty cough virus going about. I've got it and it has felt like asthma, plus aches and pains in lower back and neck, runny nose, fatigue, dizziness. Debilitating and a bit scary to be honest! My young niece has it too. So bear that in mind. I had blood in my mucus from throat and nose, which I never get. All symptoms much worse at night, and mornings currently make me feel like I've been hit by a truck.

I have been worried about my breathing at times, but am lying as low as possible and hoping it takes its course. Paracetamol, cough mixture with galfinesin or what have you, Metatone and lots of water and hot drinks is my regime at the moment. It's taking the edge off during the day but as I said, the nights are horrible. Very dry throat and an even drier-sounding cough. Lots of thick phlegm. Chest feels invaded. Nightmares.

Fingers crossed this is the worst I get over the next few months! Really hope you're managing OK. Rest as much as poss and if you're really worried then ring 111 Flowers

Thank you for replying. I am sorry you feel like this but in a way I'm glad to know it's a Thing and not just me being pathetic. Slept all night having stayed in bed all day yesterday and feel a little more human this morning. Got up and made the DC pancakes, now back in bed with laptop for company. I had blood on my lips one morning last week when I woke up, is that the blood in mucus you describe? Nice.

I think I will continue to rest, thanks for the kind wishes. Hope you feel better too.

OP, glad to hear you feel better this morning. If you feel you're getting worse again and can barely function (ie haven't got energy to dress, shower etc), or having problems breathing then I wouldn't hesitate to see a doctor. Do you have an OH who might be at home a bit more over the weekend to look after/do something with your DC?

Yes and he's sympathetic- back in bed again now. I'll see how I am on Monday and if there's no change I'll call GP. Thanks again for the support.

I've got a similar thing too. Can't breathe properly, any activity makes me wheeze and lightheaded. Have spent most of the week in bed but it's not showing much sign of getting better. No ideas to help, just sympathy!

Sorry to hear that Petulia. Do you have an inhaler and have you increased the number of puffs?

I don't have asthma but I do have an inhaler from having viral wheeze before and that's helped a lot today. Basically I'm fine as long as I stay in bed and don't do anything! The dizziness when I get up seems to be getting worse rather than better though which is not great. I guess it is probably moved on to an ear infection from the original sore throat/cough/cold that started it off.
