Hi all I am looking to find out what your experience of a kidney infection was (if you've had one) so what symptoms you had, how it made you feel, where you felt pain etc.. Thank you

Worst pain I think I've ever had. Kidney pain is horrific. Kidney infection in my case but doc wasn't sure whether infection or stones but antibiotics worked quickly so meant it was an infection. It was writhing on the floor crying and screaming type pain. I had to get my dad to drive 40minutes and take me to gp for emergency appointment as I couldn't walk the 5 minute stroll to doctors. My sister (gp in different area of the country) told me to get to the surgery rather than waiting for the gp to come on a house call as that would get me seen quicker. I tend to vomit when I have a fever so needed buccastem to take first to try and help me keep the antibiotics down. Medication worked quickly. Hope you feel better soon.

Localised pain in the lower back (more on one side). Felt bloated like really bad constipation maybe, got steadily worse and then the vomiting started. Hot /cold fever for days. If you think its that go to the doctors asap, it's awful. I was convinced I was dying lol.

Thank you ladies.

Well for about a month I have had a niggle on my right side (flank) which radiates round the back where I am guessing my kidney is. I had a full blood count, crp, liver & kidney check all came back fine, they dipped my urine and that was clear. To start with it wasmt pain however now I'd say its pain. My lower back is awful a really sick deep nagging dull ache going on. The doctor called me on Monday to say bloods were OK, to take more pain relief and if no better in a week go back and she would arrange a kidney and bladder scan. So in the mean time my mind is wandering especially as I have our 4 month old to cherish. I went out see a different doctor this morning and I got so upset saying I'm scared of what it is. He had a good feel wants me to do stool samples and another urine test but this time they are sending it off as they only dipped in surgery last time. He gave me antibiotics. Coamoxiclave or something. I am so scared and worried. I feel sick and the ache/pain is getting worse.

I would have thought if it was an infection you'd know about it pretty fast? I had maybe 4-5 days before the discomfort/pain turned into vomiting.

Try not to worry if it is, antibiotics will clear it pretty quick.
