Has anyone successfully bought their high blood pressure into the normal range through diet/exercise/other means? Thanks

Nope! I've always had a healthy lifestyle but bp still high since middle age. On bp medication from age 50 and even then it occasionally flares up. I know it's in the family so perhaps I'm fighting a losing battle but I do know of lucky people who have brought their bp down just by losing weight, stop smoking and boozing, healthier meals and some daily walks.

Hi I’ve just been started on high blood pressure meds allbeit a v low dose and it’s now well controlled but it took a bit of a minor heart scare to motivate me to sort it out. I have always exercised (running and spinning ) regularly, healthy diet, normal weight and never smoked but have a family history of cardiac disease so obviously ultimately genetics trump everything else. Mine wasn’t massively high but still elevated and just that put me at risk of vascular dementia etc later in life

I was hoping to be able to control mine through diet lifestyle etc.,. GP said I need to lose weight, about 1 stone. There is no known cause for my BP being high after numerous tests I was told by cardiologist "you just have high blood pressure".

I was about to be prescribed pills for high blood pressure ( about 150/100). I was overweight and didn't exercise. I'm now in the healthy weight range and exercise 5 days a week. I do a 30 minute session on an exercise bike. My blood pressure is now 110/70 so it is possible. It will depend on the cause tho'.

My blood pressure hovered around the 135/92 mark, so not really high but high enough to worry, during pregnancy it went off the scale. I’ve recently lost 3 stone and it’s well within the normal range, generally 110/70. I’ve lost the weight through Slimming World, I have another 3 stone to lose, as I’m still in the obese category.
