Lobe piercing still not healed!

Hello Smile In late July this year I got DD's ears pierced in a tattoo parlour with a needle. She has been cleaning it properly. However, when she uses a cotton bud to gently clean it, it has blood on it. It's been around 13 weeks and she is still complaining of a sharp pain in the piercing and red crusts around it.
Not sure what to do. She really doesn't want to take them out to heal. Maybe a change of jewellery might help?

CHange to a better material maybe? What are the earrings made of

Absolutely go back to the piercer. They will be able to properly advise you.
FWIW I have had a lot of piercings, including several lobe ones and my piercer always says not to clean them with anything, just to gently twist them back and forth every day.

Yep change jewellery as a metal allergy can cause this. Stainless steel is usually good. Titanium can cause allergys.
How is her vitamin intake?

Each piercer will say something different. For example i can do piercings(was a fluke i got a course at college) but i go to someone else. My sister is also a piercer ans our advice is never twist the jewellery and clean it in cooled boiled water with a pinch of salt.

My daughter had the same problem. Here were done with a needle at a highly recommended piercing studio.

I think the problem with hers was that the piercings dropped where she slept on them so the hole at the back of the lobe was too big. They were still giving her issues nearly a year later so she decided to leave them out.

The earrings she was pierced with are stainless steel. I'm thinking of maybe putting some titanium in to see if that improves. Recently, she's been having multivitamins tablets dissolved in water, and she drinks a fair amount of fruit juice.

Do they appear infected at all? Try different jewellery and see if that helps them at all.

I think I'll order some titanium for her. They're a little bit swollen and the skin around the piercing is red

How much is she cleaning them? I’d get the titanium earrings in and then try not to muck about with them too much.
Clean gently using saline twice a day max.

(DD and I have just had lobes and cartilage pierced respectively and I’ve been googling a lot!)
