Long story but my husband has eaten a sausage roll that had been left out of the fridge for over 24hrs (don’t ask)

He has Parkinson’s so health isn’t good.

I’ve tried to get him to throw up but it’s not working.

What can/should we do. How badly could he get sick?

I think he will be fine.

YouBoggleMyMind · 21/10/2018 20:14

I think it's quite unlikely he'll get poorly from it and I wouldn't try to make him throw up either. Time will tell but I think he'll be fine. If you're concerned, a call to 111 might put your mind at rest.

guiltynetter · 21/10/2018 20:15

honestly why do you need a professional doctors opinion for this?!

he might get stomach ache and diarrhoea. he might not. he probably won’t.

imagine going to the gp’s saying you’ve eaten a slightly warm sausage roll 🙈

Urbanbeetler · 21/10/2018 20:15

I think trying to make him throw up is more likely to harm him than the sausage roll. Hope he’s ok.

eggncress · 21/10/2018 20:19

Sausages, including sausage rolls are loaded with preservatives.
I wouldn’t worry about it while he has no symptoms. The poor man is more at risk from your efforts to make him throw up!
You don’t need a doctor for this.
Just relax ! Flowers

Thanks egg. I realise I over reacted. I just get so worried about him and he has a lot of gut related problems. I’ve been under a lot of stress with his health and him generally doing things that put him at risk due to his mobility issues. This just came at the end of a series of mishaps and my stress levels went off the scale. I feel reassured and very daft for worrying so much.

Yes you sounded quite stressed OP, and probs for no reason.
Be kind to yourself. Obviously if your dh starts to feel unwell phone your gp or 111 if it’s out of hours.

This is why we have stomach acid. It's not a guarantee, but works most of the time...

YeOldeTrout · 22/10/2018 05:17

It's mostly salt.

Urbanbeetler · 22/10/2018 08:22

How is he feeling today, Lost?

Lostinthe80s · 22/10/2018 14:56

urban so far, so good, thanks for asking. I feel so silly for having panicked so much. He has so many medical complications the last thing he needs is a bout of food poisoning but yes, I totally overreacted Blush Thanks to all who gave sage advice!

Sometimes we panic because of the love we feel for someone. Glad he’s ok.

Lostinthe80s · 22/10/2018 19:16

Thanks for the kind words urban - very much appreciated.
