Unstable bladder oxybutinin experiences

After suffering bladder issues over the last year mainly urgency, frequency and also some leaks including at night my gp thinks that I may have an unstable bladder and has prescribed oxybutinin to see if it has any affect. I haven't had any proper tests they've told me I have it from described symptoms.
Im a bit apprehensive to take it due to potential side affects, looking for others that have had similar issues, what has helped you? If you've tried oxybutinin did you have any improvement from it and did you suffer side affects? Tia

Hi, I tried it a while back for overactive bladder. It was reasonably effective at first, but I ended up needing something stronger, and went on solifenacin (Vesicare) which was much better.

Worst side effect was dry mouth - GP prescribed salivix pastilles alongside which were very good for that, also Boots dry mouth spray. Also had some mild constipation. Can't take either now due to other medication, so am trialling Mirabegron.

Other useful things according to my bladder and bowel care nurse are: drinking lots of fluids (but not tea, coffee or fizzy drinks), only going to the toilet when you really need to go - trying to lengthen time and pelvic floor exercises - ideally from a women's physio, but something like the NHS squeezy app might be good

Thanks lyrebird that's all really helpful I'm really hoping it helps as it's so stressful dealing with the symptoms.
I think I might try going back to my gp and asking for a referral to the bladder clinic at least then I may get a more personalised treatment plan and more insight into why this suddenly started being an issue.
I will also speak to her about vesicare if the oxybutinin doesn't work.
