Bite with a circular bruise around it

I have a small red bite on my leg which is slightly itchy but all around it is a dark circular bruise in a ring shape. The bruise seems to be getting darker and the ring joining up around the bite, but I don’t think the area is getting bigger. It is a classic bulls eye pattern but when I google tick bites, (which I’m worried about), the pictures all show a red ring and this is distinctly bruise coloured. Anyone had similar? I know I should probably see a GP but I also know getting an appointment will be almost impossible for at least a few days!

I would say that you need an emergency appointment in my opinion.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/10/2018 16:27

You need medical attention asap as this sounds like a tick bite. DO not leave this to chance.

HashTagLil · 14/10/2018 16:29

Draw around the current perimeter of the bruise with a biro so the Drs can see how it's spreading.

PurpleWithRed · 14/10/2018 16:29

Definitely call the GP in the morning if you don't have a decent walk-in nearby

holidaylady · 14/10/2018 16:35

Go to a walk in or even A&E. That needs seen asap by a doctor

Sounds like a recluse spider bite

pic?

I’d get it checked out but reasonable while you’re waiting to try an anti histamine if you haven’t already - sometimes histamine reactions to bites can look like bruises. Take photos for your Gp too. Probably doesn’t need urgent appointment if you’re otherwise totally well

If you can't get an appointment with your GP tomorrow, go to the chemists and speak to a pharmacist. They will know whether it is easily home-treatable or if you need to see the doctor.

Insect bites can sometimes get nastily infected. I had one earlier this year that was horrible and I needed a week's worth of really strong antibiotics. There's now quite a scar, which doesn't seem to fading at all.

Hope this works but this is a pic - excuse slightly hairy leg! I feel otherwise fine so will Pop to a pharmacy tomorrow. If they thinks it’s possibly a tick I’ll have some leverage to help get a GP appointment. Thanks for the advice.

The entire area looks bruised, not just a ring, imho. I expect pharmacist will be a help. Hope it feels better soon. x

Hi OP
sorry to post on your thread after such a long time but I have something very similar except my bruise is way darker than yours with a completely white little spot in the middle and the tiniest pin prick.

Did you find out what yours was?!

bruisywoozy · 03/01/2021 18:09

Sorry for the horrible picture! Blush

bruisywoozy · 03/01/2021 18:10

meant to also say, I have no pain or itch or anything - I wouldn't have even known it was there if it didn't look so obvious!

Reddened121 · 26/12/2021 05:08

Did you ever have any issues with this?

ceepeeree · 26/12/2021 05:15

Mine looked exactly like that. I was the same as you- thought it would look like a red bulls eye.

It was a tick bite.
