anyone else? i have been losing eyebrow hairs-getting patchy, and eyelashes

have really noticed it over the last 2 weeks or so.

seem to have little gpas on the eyebrows nearest my nose, and my lower right lid has only a third the usual lashes left.

any ideas?

Underactive thyroid can cause hair (and eyelash/eyebrow) loss. So can some forms of alopecia.

Do you have any other symptoms that might be associated with underactive thyroid? Weight gain, constipation, feeling tired, feeling cold, brittle nails, period problems?

I've suffered for years from alopecia, which can affect eyebrows and lashes, though it would be unusual to have this without some hairloss on head too. Do you have any other auto-immune conditions? This would make alopecia more likely. If you want more info about alopecia, say so and I'll post some. Like a lot of auto-immune condidtions it's mysterious and frustrating. Onset and remission are really erratic.
Can anyone tell me how great the chances are of my sons inheriting my alopecia? My sister suffers from it as well so there is clearly a genetic element. I've got used to bald patches that come and go, but the thought of my sons having to go through it eats me up.
On the cheerful side, advances in genetic science are so immense that there is a real chance of some sort of effective therapy in the next 10 years or so. At the moment steroids are the only real treatment, and they don't work for everyone.

funnily enough i have all the symptoms you are saying. Best go and get my thyroid levels checked really. my gp is available on monday afternoon.

i am not losing any head hair, that i have noticed.

my periods, wel i have come off the pill, where i havent had periods for about a yr, so not too sure whats normal yet, altho the lastone was very heavy, and i felt absolutely shattered with it, and during about a 10 day run up to it. it wa slike having pmtfor half my cycle.

I have put on wieght and have been very tired for months, despite getting sleep, and exersise etc...

hmm, its weird . could also apparently be blepharitis, which is somethingmy dad has had in the past.
