I used 2 take the mini pill a few years back & experianced the same kind of thing.
I was fine on it at first but after having ds1 I started 2 experience period after period, which was most annoying as I was on holiday at the time.
When I returned home I went straight 2 the doctor, who informed me that this was pretty normal on the mini pill & just 1 of those things.
I however was so fed up that I went straight back on the combination pill!
So yes it is extremly standard!

How long have you been taking the mini-pill? The reason I ask is that I'm on my 3rd packet (so about 7-8months) and, although my periods got very close together they are starting to move apart a bit now. Before the pill I used to have a 4-5wk cycle, when I started on the pill it went down to as little as 3wks and became very random, but the last few have been closer to 4wks apart. So it may improve for you. Or perhaps you could try a different mini-pill?

i took the mini-pill for a few years, was okay at first, then had bleeds every ten days. As this was accompanied by nasty PMT type symptoms depression, I tried switching brands, no joy, then just gave up on the mini-pill. Is there any reason for you to avoid the combo pill, such as bfing/family history - just that combo pill is so much more reliable.

I am on my first packet of the mini pill and have had a 17 day period and am 5 days late but assume that I will come on tomorrow as it does say the cycle can start with a 17 one then a 35 day one so this is quite common?

I have just come off the mini - pill in order to ttc. I was on it for about 3 years - At first i had a period every 2 weeks .. then after about 6 months i started having a period every 6 weeks (very worrying and scary - loads of money wasted on hpt's) Then it suddedny became as regular as clockwork every month but with v. heavy bleeding. After about a year of this the bleeding got gradually less and less until it became just spotting every month - so hang in there!!!

I had a similar problem on the mini pill. It caused loads of problems as I kept having to go for repeat smear tests (nice) as I kept bleeding at the slightest 'scrape'! In the end I stopped taking it & things went back to normal (I can't remember what sex is anyway !!!!)
